I’ve been preparing a message for my trip next week to speak at our home church in Lyndon, KS. I always enjoy going back; seeing familiar faces and some new ones, catching up, and seeing how the church is doing that we were a part of for about 10 years. Of course my favorite part is always sharing about what God is doing here at The Four Corners Home for Children.
My least favorite part is, of course, the humidity …yuck!!
At the same time, the Creative Team has been working on our next “production” video – our new sponsor video – “Mission Possible.” So it seemed pretty obvious for me to just combine the two and see what happens. I don’t always title my sermons but this one will likely be “Mission Possible” or something along those lines. The best place to start is always with our Mission Statement …
The Four Corners Home for Children helps the people we serve through programs that instill hope, restoration, and Christian values.
I try to say that over and over to myself on a weekly or sometimes daily basis, because it is so easy to forget why we’re here. Our mission statement states our mission and it is an entirely impossible one. We can’t do it. We never have been able to, and we never will.
Except God be in our midst!
This mission that He first set in the heart of Jack Drake is ONLY possible because Christ is in it, He is working, and He is leading. Through Him is the only way it could ever be possible. Of course He uses people too. He uses us to perform the work and to be here. He uses thousands of people, businesses, and churches across the country and even the world to fund His work. But it all – 100% and unequivocally – hinges on Him.
He is Everything!
Whether we get weary, discouraged, or even disillusioned – remember that it’s His mission. It’s His work. He simply asks us to be his hands and feet and to follow Him. He asks us to respond to Him. We don’t respond to this world or whatever might be thrown or blown our way – we respond to Him. Where He has called us, and to what He has called us – that is where we meet Him.
So that’s the nut shell of what I’ll be sharing this Sunday. All that we do revolves around our mission statement, and our mission revolves around God.
Hope Awards
The voting for the Hope Awards has been going on for nearly four weeks now, and there is more than 7 weeks left to go. As Eric reported last week we were in second. As of this Monday we are still in second place, but we have narrowed that margin. This is a team effort and everyone has done such a great job of getting the word out! We have votes coming in through contacts on Facebook, the radio, our websites, through e-mail, support letters, and push cards. I have seen Facebook posts from many community partners and churches. It is more than a ministry effort, but a community effort and beyond!
It probably does not require repeating, but I will do so anyway. This is such a blessing and an honor – all of it. The article itself, the nomination, and the exposure we are getting across the country. We hope to win the grand prize, but we have already won whether we do or not. Like everything else we do here – we do what we can and what we’re called to do and leave the results to God. All five organizations are worthy winners and all of them rely upon God. I wish each one could receive $15,000!

Providing hope since 1953. What a testament! What a statement! This award represents Jack Drake and every employee, volunteer, board member, and supporter – today and all the way back to 1953! It is a joy and an honor to be here to see it.
Thank you ALL for what you’re doing to continue to spread the word about the Hope Awards voting, but more than that, thank you for what you do every day to provide hope, restoration, and Christian values!
With God that mission IS possible!!
Serving Him,
Randall
P.S. – Keep an eye out for our “Mission Possible” sponsor video – going live in about a week and a half!!! Rumor is – that a Tom Cruise lookalike will be in it …
